Ahead of the highly anticipated 2017 World X-Country Championship, the Uganda Athletics Federation (UAF) has on Wednesday named a tentative team.
The team which starts camp on November 4 has 49 athletes divided into three categories that are further sub divided into six.
In a communication from the UAF, there seniors (both men and women), Juniors (men and women) plus relays (men and women).
Among the big names on the list is Stephen Kiprotich, Joshua Cheptegei, Timothy Toroitich and Phillip Kipyeko among others in the men’s seniors while Juliet Chekwel leads the list for the senior category in women.
Girls will camp at Arua Athletics club camp in Kapkoros; Boys will camp at Standard High in Amanang.
The final team will be named after the National event due January 14, 2017 at Kololo Independence Grounds.
Uganda will host the 41st IAAF World Cross-country Championships (WCC) at Kololo Independence Grounds next year in March.
