A total of 27 coaches from Uganda have graduated from the federation of International Football Associations (FIFA) Member Association Fitness Course.
The week long course, coordinated by the FUFA Education office climaxed on Friday, 28th October 2016.
Garry Phillips, FIFA Instructor Fitness from United kingdom expressed appreciation to the 27 coaches who attended the course.
The course had theory and practical sessions where the participants were evaluated on their abilities to make presentations and conduct fitness training sessions.
FUFA CEO, who graced the course closure urged the coaches on professionalism. Watson, a former Uganda Cranes captain is quoted by the federation website;
If a player is unfit be open to tell the other technical team about the problem. Don’t hide it
Introduction to new training methods will be useful in your duties as fitness coaches. I believe coaching fitness trainer experience alone is inadequate. They must have sound scientific knowledge of physiological fitness training
The physical and mental fitness of players is very important in order for them to make good decisions,” he added.
He lauded FIFA and particularly the course instructor Gary for the timely support;
Without their active cooperation, it wouldn’t have been possible to conduct the course. He also thanked FIFA for its support.
The course attendants cut across a blend of the youth and the experienced with former Uganda Cranes internationals part of the programme.
Clubs in the top flight, second division (Big League), women football clubs and institutions were ably represented at the course.
