Uganda Cranes coach Mulitin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic has quashed reports there is a lift between him and US based midfielder Mike Azira.

Despite failing to honour the national team’s previous two summons, Azira was again included in the squad for the friendly against Zambia and the FIFA 2018 World Cup qualifier against Congo Brazzaville.

Speaking to Daily Monitor, Micho said there is a special family relationship between the two explained why the player failed to make it for the games against Zimbabwe and Botswana in June.

“He is a special player and we have special family relationships,” Micho is quoted in the Daily Monitor. “Everything has been clear between us.

In March he was with us, and in June (for Botswana) he sent a letter to us that he was busy with his club. In September he was injured and informed us. In October, his team was entering playoffs versus LA Galaxy and we agreed not to use him.

Micho also adds that he is confident the former SC Villa star will be in the country for the Red Devils tie although with ‘Ifs’.

If his team comes through (Conference semifinal playoffs), he will play for us against Congo and goes back. If not, he stays and plays Cecafa.”

It remains to be seen whether the versatile player will make it for the game but his previous two games for the national team were all spent on the bench.
