Uganda Christian University (UCU) netballer Phiona Namataka won the Eastern Uganda Sports Press Association (EUSPA) top accolade for the month of October.
Namataka beat Shaban Bulolo, a youth football coach for to the top accolade for her great defensive play in the just concluded UHMG – Injector plan regional and national netball championship.
She tallied 165 votes to Bulolo’s 150 in a tight contest after the body’s monthly assembly that took place at was voted the best Namboko County Hotel in Mbale town on Thursday.
EUSPA considered Namataka after she was voted the best goal defender at the tournament held at Namboole.

Former football star and journalist Umar Nangoli presided over as the guest of honor.
Nangoli, also Mbale’s former RDC saluted the efforts of the sports body for rewarding outstanding sports personalities in the month past.
EUSPA is doing a great job in promoting local sports and talent development.
He also vowed to support (financially) the EUSPA Activities for the next six months.

Meanwhile, Coach Shaban Bulolo was given a commendation certificate for having helped Eastern Airtel Rising Star Girls team to finish first runners-up at the national ARS championship held in Lira last weekend.
