Uganda Cranes midfielder Aucho Khalid faces a torrid fitness race against time ahead of the international friendly with Zambia and the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Congo Brazzaville.
The left footed midfielder limped off during their 4-3 loss to Cape Town City in the Telkom Knockout semi-finals at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium.
Aucho featured for only the opening 23 minutes before he was replaced by Jack Motshegwa.
Incidentally, teammate and compatriot Geofrey Massa was introduced after 30 minutes in the game, taking Cleopas Dube’s place.
Uganda Cranes head coach, Milutin Sredejovic hopes the midfielder will recover as soon as possible well in time for the two matches.
The injury is not as bad as we originally thought. The situation is under control and Aucho will be able to train with the team on Monday in Kampala
Aucho, Massa and Mamelodi Sundowns goalkeeper Dennis Onyango arrive in the country on Monday at 2 p.m and are expected to be part of the team’s last training session at Nelson Mandela National Stadium, Namboole.
