Frank ‘Video’ Anyau was left furious with Bul’s ‘clumsy and blunt’ attack against Sadolin Paints on Tuesday in the Jinja derby which saw his side settle for a point in a game they needed to win to distance themselves from bottom as the first round nears its closure.

The tactician bemoaned his team’s inability to convert their chances particularly in the first half when they controlled proceedings at Bugembe Stadium, but insists a draw is not exactly ‘a bad result’ especially away from home in a derby.

Bul created the most and best opportunities in the first 45 minutes, with their best two chances falling in the hands of Titus Lubega and Yunus Sibiri, but the duo were unable to make any good out of those opportunities.

“We were very clumsy and blunt in front of goal,” he told Kawowo Sports after the game. We played well in the first half but it didn’t count because we failed to score.

“Scoring is our major problem and the country has failed to produce strikers. We have the best goalkeepers, best defenders and midfielders but no strikers.

“We got two or three good chances that should have given us the lead before halftime, but we misused them.”

The second half saw the hosts enjoy the driving seat. Bul had their goalkeeper Paul Mujampwani, a former custodian at Sadolin to thank for pulling a couple of spectacular saves.

“I felt we lost concentration in the second half and gave away the ball so easily, but we managed to avoid defeat. Not a bad result when you’re playing away from home in a derby. These are always tough games.”

The draw took Bul who have won just twice this season a place above to thirteenth with eleven points.
