Not many gave Power a chance heading into the National Basketball League playoff semifinals against KIU Titans.

KIU had won 21 consecutive games including the first round of the playoffs. Winning Game 1 against Power albeit by a point showed they would easily get through the series.

However, the five-time champions turned up the heat in Game 2 for an 83-67 blow out victory thanks to Isaac Afidra’s 20 points that were matched by teammate Micheal Kojjo. Joseph Ikong came in-hand with 19 points.

Afidra, a 2011 Most Valuable Player zeroed the win down to ball movement.

“We have share the ball well tonight,” he said after the game. “As teammates we kept feeding off each other and that’s why we have had a good game.”

The script was the same for Game 3 but with different actors as Power ran away with a 68-65 win to take charge of the series. Micheal Makiadi turned in game high 23 points. Ikong and Kojjo chipped in with 14 and 12 points respectively.

Afidra says the team has stepped up to the occasion;

It’s called stepping up. We have stepped up as a team and whoever has a good hand is what we look for.

Heading into Game 4 tonight that could see them return to the finals, Afidra maintains it can be anyone’s game.

“They are a very good team only that in a ball game there has to be a winner and a loser”
