Barely 24 hours after denying being linked to Kenya Premier League side, Sofapaka, current Soana head coach Sam Ssimbwa traveled to Nairobi and attended the club’s morning session at the Eastleigh High school play ground on Thursday.

Ssimbwa was introduced to the players by the acting team manager, Emmanuel Donno as a special guest who offered great services to the club some years ago.

A top club official who requested not to be revealed has confirmed to Kawowo Sports that Ssimbwa is merely a guest but you can ‘never say never’ in football.

He is here as a special guest to the club. Who knows, anything can happen in future.

In football and life generally, do not rule out anything until it materializes.

Ssimbwa is using the break in the Uganda Premier League for the opportunity to visit Sofapaka Football Club, a club he diligently served between  2009 and 2010.

The ‘Batoto Ba Mungu’ club is in a desperate fight against relegation with one game to play.

They host Thika United at the Machakos ground with a target for maximum points and ‘saddening prayers’ that Ushuru falters against Posta.

Sofapaka has 23 points and they seat 15th on the 16 team log while Ushuru is 14th with 26 points.

There are a host of Ugandans at Sofapaka football club – goalkeeper Mathias Kigonya, Isaac Mutanga, Simon Okwi and team skipper Johnson Bagoole.

Another goalkeeper Michael Mugote has been training with the club since June 2016 although he is yet to be licenced.

David Isabirye is a senior staff writer for Kawowo Sports where he covers most of the major events.
