Uganda Cranes will play Cote D’Ivoire early next year in a build-up match ahead of the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Gabon.

The development was revealed by a Chinese New Agency, Xinhua on Monday.

“We shall camp in Dubai and play against Cote D’Ivoire as we await to know the status of Nigeria” the website quoted a high profile FUFA official.

The build up will follow a camp for the two teams which will be based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates ahead of the tournament scheduled to start in January 2016.

Uganda Cranes could also face Nigeria Super Eagles although final negotiations are still underway.

The team officially starts AFCON preparations on Wednesday, 23rd November 2016 in Kampala.

Previously, during the successful AFCON 2017 campaign and the on-going FIFA 2018 World Cup qualifiers, the Uganda Cranes have camped in Zimbabwe, and Togo.

Uganda is housed in Group D with Ghana Black Stars, Egypt and Mali.

Besides hosts Gabon, the other nations that qualified for the 2017 AFCON include; Guinea Bissau, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Algeria, Zimbabwe, Tunisia, Senegal, Togo, DR Congo, Morocco, Ghana, Mali, Egypt and defending champions Cote d’Ivoire.
