UCU Lady Canons 53-50 KCCA Leopards | UCU lead series 2-0

UCU Lady Canons followed their 70-66 game one win with a hard fought 53-50 win in game two to stretch their lead over KCCA Leopards in the finals to 2-0.

Led by guard Ritah Imanishimwe, who scored a game high 18 points and picked 5 rebounds, the university side overcame KCCA in the final minute of the game.

The two sides exchanged leads thrice in the final minute but Nick Natuhereza’s charges, who started the game on the front foot, emerged victors to brighten their chances of defending the title.

For Timothy Odeke’s side, it was yet another game that they started on the back foot. The side has had to come from behind in all their playoffs games and are so far getting punished by the Mukono outfit.

KCCA had to recover from their poor start in game one to force overtime but UCU held on to draw first blood in the series.

Imanishimwe was the go-to player for the Lady Canons as her game high 18 points helped the team create a two-game cushion in the series.

Judith Nansobya, scorer of a game high 21 points in game one, had 13 while Sara Ageno scored 6 and collected 14 rebounds.

Reigning MVP Vilma Achieng scored 8 points and had 9 rebounds.

Former Lady Canons guard Maureen Amoding led the Leopards with a team high 17 points in their futile chase for a first win in the finals.

Martha Soigi had a doube-double of 14 points and 11 rebounds while Muhaimina Namuwaya contributed 9 points and 10 rebounds.

Flavia Oketcho, scorer of 17 in game one, was limited to 2 points and 4 rebounds in 26 minutes.
