Ugandan Coach Paul ‘Latest’ Nkata has been nominated in the coach of the Year category for the recently concluded 2016 Kenya Premier League.
Nkata guided Tusker to their eleventh league title as well as their first ever double by winning the GO TV Shield Cup.
The soft spoken coach will battle for the gong with Gor Mahia’s Jose Ferreira whose side finished second on the log, Chemelil Sugar’s Francis Baraza and Posta Rangers’ Zedekiah Otieno.
The former SC Villa, Express and URA tactician is arguably the favourite to take home the award on December 14 at the Safari Park Hotel, Nairobi.
Meanwhile, no Ugandan player has earned a nomination in the other categories as Kenyans dominated.
The Most Valuable Player of the Year will see Gor Mahia’s youngster Eric ‘Marcelo’ Ouma compete with Ulinzi’s John Mark Makwata, Tusker goalie David Okello and his team mate Humphrey Mieno.
Previously, Dan ‘Mzee’ Sserunkuma and Ivan Anguyo are some of the Ugandans that have won gongs at the ceremony.
Shafik Batambuze and Hashim Sempala had stellar performances for the Brewers but surprisingly miss out on nominations.
