Oregon 95-55 Vanguard

University of Oregon defeated Vanguards University 95-55 at the Matthew Knight Arena in an exhibition game on Sunday afternoon.

Oregon used a balanced team effort that saw five players score in double figures to hand Vanguard who coughed up the ball 23 times defeat.

After a closely contested first quarter that ended 24-18 in favour of Oregon, the hosts capitalized on the visitors’ turnovers to pull away to a double digit lead before closing the second quarter up 40-31.

Oregon’s dominance dragged on through to the third quarter and led by 30 (72-42) going into the fourth and there was no way back for Vanguard who suffered their heaviest defeat thus far.

Guard Lexi Gando led Oregon with 14 points, 12 coming from beyond the arc. Sabrina Ionescu added 12 points, Ruthy Hebard chipped in with 11 points while Mar’Shay Moore and Mallory McGwire contributed 10 points apiece.

Claire Lamunu led Vanguard with 19 points on a 7-for-15 shooting from the field. She also picked 6 rebounds and assisted on 4 baskets.

Tania Uluheua contributed 17 points in a losing effort.

Vanguard returns home for their first conference game against San Diego Christian College on Tuesday, December 6.
