
Haruna Mawa picked up his first win in charge of Somalia national football team with victory over Somalia Premier League club Cadika FC in a friendly game on Tuesday at Mogadishu technical center.
Goals from Mahad Hussien and Ciddici Hassan handed Mawa a 2-1 triumph in his first game as the Ocean Stars registered their first win under the Ugandan.
Mawa, looking to test the level of competition in his squad against a Cadika side that is home to many Kenyans named a strong side and was rewarded with a goal in either half.
A delighted Mawa said: “At the moment, winning doesn’t really excite me because by the look of things, we can easily win or lose against any country.
“What matters for me is the understanding and chemistry in the team. So far so good and I feel relaxed after the game. I feel I can smile.”
The former SCVU tactician, also the U-20 coach witnessed his young side thrash Elman FC 5-1 early this morning with Yardis Macalin banging a hat-trick and Sharki Qadiri claiming a brace.
Elman is a club coached by another Ugandan Robert Mayanja.
