Less than a month after URA suspended two players for involvement in match fixing, Police FC has followed suit by terminating contracts of two players.

The two are team captain Godfrey Kateregga and his vice Saddat Kyambadde who play as defenders.

Club Chairperson, Asan Kasingye confirmed the development insisting the two have been betting and throwing away games.

“I am informing you with a heavy heart that Police FC has parted company with three of its senior players; Kateregga Godfrey – the captain and his assistant Saddat Kyambadde for betting and throwing away team matches,” Kasingye posted in one of the watsapp forums that has UPL chairmen and FUFA officials among others.

Kasingye also added experienced forward Peter Ssenyonjo on the duo’s list but for another reason; he has gone to UAE on his won without the club’s consent.

We have cancelled their contracts and wish them well elsewhere.

How they nabbed the players

The passionate officer revealed that the club got intelligence from fellow administrators who face similar problems.

They alerted me about the vice in our club. We launched an underground investigation. We monitored them during the Lweza match.

The Cops have had a torrid first round as they spent most of the time languishing in relegation zone.

They currently occupy 13th position the log with 14 points, just two above the red zone.
