  • Nyamityobora 0-0 Mbarara City
  • Kataka 1-3 Synergy

Elgon Group:

A lot had been said by the fans, media and the Nyamityobora and Mbarara City Football Club officials prior to the epic Mbarara derby on Saturday.

Both clubs prepared adequately with residential camps to give the playing staff ample training time and concentration.

In the match proper, both sides played a cautious game well aware of its significance.

By the end of the 90 minutes, score was goalless.

Elsewhere, Masavu won 3-2 away at Water F.C. Former Vipers and Lweza midfielder Sadala Ddumba scored twice before Onesmas Andama got the other goal for Allan Kabonge’s coached side.

Kataka lost 3-1 to Masaka side Synergy at the barren and dusty Mbale Municipal stadium.

Synergy scored through team captain Solomon Okwalinga, Pius Kaggwa and Nicholas Kasozi netted for Synergy.

Daniel Mugwanya scored the consolation for Kataka Football Club.

Elgon Group leaders, Maroons played to a goalless draw with a ten-man Busia Fisheries.

The FUFA Big League first round will officially climax on Tuesday when Sun City hosts Nyamityobora in Kasese, a game that was pushed ahead after clashes in the region.

On Monday, there is also another game when Hoima based Airtel Kitara entertains Hope Doves at the Boma play ground.

From then on, the Big League will take a break for the festive season.

Three clubs are promoted to the Uganda Premier League at the end of the season in May.

Last season, Onduparaka, Kirinya – Jinja S.S and Proline were the three sides that were promoted from the Big league to replace Simba, Maroons and Sports Club Victoria University.
