Wilber Pole Pole was over the moon after reaching victory during the weekend Rallye De Collines Milles in Rwanda.
The Mitsubishi Evo9 driver achieved three momentous feats; a first career win, a first finish of the year as well as a first finish in Rwanda.
Pole Pole drove to victory with Joseph Bongole calling the notes.
“My win in Rwanda meant a lot to me. First of all we had been longing to finish an event, and finishing with a victory was a very big plus for us,” said Pole Pole.
Pole Pole has had a rather disastrous season bowing out of eight rallies this year. Countless mechanical problems have let the Kajara Rally Team down.
“For the first time ever since I got that car, we finished the event without any mechanical problem. It was so unbelievable and it gave me hope that it will be able to compete,” he asserted.
He is now bouyed by the Rwanda victory hoping for better fortunes next season.
“After winning in Rwanda, I now see myself on many podiums next year. I will be working towards maintaining the form starting with the season opener.”
“I really appreciate my sponsors like Megha who have been there for us throughout the year.”
Meanwhile, Pole Pole has not scored any points in the NRC due to a series of DNFs
