Uganda Beach Soccer Association (UBSA) President, Deo Mutabazi rates the year 2016 as ‘promising’.
Mutabazi is impressed for the speed of development that the 6 year old Association is taking given the unavoidable challenges along the way.
He cites capacity building and the continued efforts to seek private partners as the two biggest achievements that the association registered.
Uganda Beach Soccer Association (UBSA) excelled at Capacity building where we educated referees and administrators (coaches) in the game of beach soccer.
The Association also maintained a strong bond with our partners as well as recruiting new ones on board.
We also managed to fulfil all the activity calendar reports.
The Uganda Beach Soccer Association was launched in 2010 by FUFA President then – Lawrence Mulindwa.
When Moses Magogo took over the baton of the federation, he continued to steer the works of beach soccer, one department that also concurrently runs along with Futsal (Indoor soccer).

Mutabazi does not hesitate to point out the grey areas and challenges that they faced;
Funding for the Association remains a big challenge.
Also, the ability to play consistently on the continent has been our other challenge due to limited funds.
We also need a beach soccer facility in Kampala.
This year alone, the 2015/16 league season was completed and the new season embarked in September.
There were other tournaments as the Schools championship, University event and the Christmas Challenge.
The national team (Uganda Sand Cranes) traveled to Dar es Salaam for an international build up against Tanzania, losing 7-5.

By and large, the season for beach soccer in the year 2016 was an average one given the successes recorded vis-a-vis the challenges faced.
