IHF Africa Zone 5B Championship:

  • Men Final: Rwanda  38-32  Uganda
  • Women final: Uganda   29-23   Kenya

Uganda (women) and Rwanda (men) handball sides were victors at the 2016 International Handball Federation (IHF) Africa Zone 5B Challenge tournament hosted at UCU handball courts in Mukono, Uganda.

The biennial tournament witnessed all regional countries in Africa Zone 5B take part in the five day championship.

These included hosts Uganda, Kenya, Rwanda, Burundi, Tanzania, South Sudan.

Uganda women defeated Kenya 29-23 in a tense finale as Rwanda men overcame a hard fighting Ugandan side 38-32.

Uganda and Rwanda will thus represent the region in the women and men respective categories at the continental showpiece.

The 2017 African Championships that will take place in March in Gabon.
