Nalubaale Rowing Club has acquired an assortment of Canoes and Kayaking vessels after they were put on auction by Uganda Revenue Authority (URA).
A dozen canoes were reportedly bought by the club chairman Solomon Muwonge from Uganda Revenue Authority after the failure of Uganda Canoe and Kayaking Association to pay the required importation taxes on time.
Muwonge remains tight-lipped on the development when questioned.
The accumulated taxes were estimated at a fee of Ug.shs 35M according to impeccable sources from URA.
The vessels were a donation to the Uganda Canoe and Kayaking Association from the international parent body of the water sport.
The year 2016 has been a dormant year for the Uganda Rowing Federation as well as the Uganda Canoe and Kayaking Association due to lack of activity on the calendar.
