The 2016 Motorsport season is officially part of the past with the SMC champions sprint being the last activity of the season.
The Sprint took place at Festino Cite on Boxing day.
Regardless of the hiked gate fares and the hot weather, rally fans filled the arena in large numbers to witness the final battle of the season. And indeed they were not disappointed.
Duncan ‘Kikankane’ Mubiru/George Semakula continued to prove his mastery of the super special stages. He put in a sublime performance to victory.
Mubiru fared through the 6km double circuit in the fastest time of 6 minutes and 42 seconds.
“This victory was for my fans who have starved this season. And I promise them next season is a make or break for me as I take on the Subaru N14 which I found more reliable than the Evo,” said Mubiru.
Hassan Alwi/Enoch Olinga took second place; only two seconds behind Kikankane.
Ronald Sebuguzi/Leon Ssenyange took third position and with it the 2016 Sprints Championship.
