
Henry Kalungi is a Ugandan footballer who plies his trade with USL side Charlotte Independence FC in the United Soccer League (USL).
The former Proline defender recently established a foundation – Henry Kalungi Foundation – with the mission to cater for the under privileged children of the slums to nurture and develop talent.
In that regard, the defender, who is in the country on a Christmas holiday is set to donate to the kids from slum areas of Katanga and Kivulu who are under the Uganda Youth Soccer Academy (UYSA) managed by SC Villa CEO Ivan Kakembo.
Kalungi will meet the kids at Buganda Road Primary School Ground on Wednesday morning and donate among others football related equipment such as jerseys and boots but also offer them what he dubs ‘Christmas lunch’.
The former Richmond Kickers player who has 15 caps with the Uganda national team speaks about his works.
“Volunteering, the selfless service of charitable work is noble, rewarding, and challenging. Just like it is important to ensure a future for Children, it is equally important to ensure the welfare and lives of our Children.
According to Kakembo, the Henry Kalungi foundation is responsible of ensuring the kids go to school through their contribution towards paying school dues.
