Uganda Premier League champions KCCA have loaned five players to Police including two league winners.
Martin Mpuuga and Hakim Ssenkumba, the two league winners with the club join youthful defender Paul Willa, left back Brian Ochwo and winger Yasin Mugume.
Mpuuga has struggled for playing time at the club since joining from SC Victoria University at the start of the 2015/16 campaign while Ssenkumba has only had a few appearances this season after renewing his stay at Lugogo with a two new year deal in August.
Ochwo, a left back who joined from Simba has also struggled to break into the first team like the rest but Mike Mutebi, KCCA coach believes the players still have a chance to make it at Lugogo.
They are all good players and very much part of the project, we also have faith in the coaching staff at Police to help them get better but the players also in return help Police get to the next level
Mugume and loans
For Mugume who still has more than two years on his five year contract, the loan agreement is the fourth in less than two years.
The right winger was loaned to two sides last season; first to Simba in the first half of the season and then to The Saints in the second round.
The former Dynamic SS student has spent the first round of the 2016/17 season on loan at Lweza but wherever he has played; his game has been on the rise.
Reunion with Mubiru
The deal reunites new Police FC Coach Abdallah Mubiru with three of the five. He was in charge at KCCA when Ssenkumba and Mugume were part of the side and was influential in getting the duo signed while Willa was part of the Masaza team that Mubiru handled in last year’s Masaza Cup.
More new faces at Police?
The five don’t shut the window at the 2005 league champions as they battle relegation with more new faces expected to join the club in the window.
There are reports the club is courting midfielders Owen Kasule (Lweza) and Brian Nkuubi (Vipers) as well as goalkeeper Yasin Mugabi.
Police are 13th on the log with 14 points, just one point and position above relegation.
