Uganda Premier League coaches have formed an association that will strive to improve their job as well as share ideas.

The Uganda Premier League Coaches Association (UPLCA) was launched mid-week and immediately elected Police FC head coach Abdallah Mubiru as their chairperson.

The former Vipers’ tactician will be deputized by KCCA’s Mike Mutebi while SC Villa’s Shafik Bisaso is the one responsible for the finance department with Badru Kaddu, one of the coaches at KCCA the association’s secretary.

“It’s a great honour to be elected by my fellow coaches as their leader,” said Mubiru. “But this means responsibility which I am willing to take up,” he added.

The association’s duties among others are to ensure professionalism amongst them, strengthen relationship and also foster development of the game.

A special code of conduct will have to be followed right as the coaches seek to improve their image right from the ethics to the dressing code.

The association will also be responsible for ensuring coaches get workshops to improve on their media and public relationship in relation to pre-and post-match interviews.

Membership

To be a member, you must be among the coaches in the premiership but only head coaches’ votes count in case of an election.

Besides, only head coaches are viable for positions such as chairperson and assistant among others but others can take up other posts.

In case a coach gets sacked or relegated, he will lose his membership by default.
