Finally, the Uganda Cranes contingent that left the country on Friday for a training camp in Tunisia has safely arrived.
The delegation touched down at Tunis International Airport this afternoon from Dubai where they had a stop over.
According to the media officer, Joseph Mutaka, all the players and officials are safe ahead of the maiden session later in the day.
We are all safe and good to go for opening session at the El Menzah Stadium.
The team is accommodated at Ramada Plaza Hotel which is near Tunis International Airport.
They join three players Moses Oloya, Geoffrey ‘Baba’ Kizito and Hassan Wasswa Mawanda who arrived earlier on Saturday.
Oloya and Kizito flew from Vietnam as Mawanda who had traveled to Lebanon to finalize his club paperwork connected from Beirut.
Two of the other foreign based players William Luwagga Kizito (Portugal) and Ethiopian based goalkeeper Robert Odongkara will join later on.
Uganda plans to play an international friendly match in Tunis against the home country, Tunisia on Wednesday, 4th January 2017 at the Menzah Olympic stadium.
They will then play Slovakia and the reigning African Champions Cote D’Ivoire on the 8th and 11th January 2017 respectively before flying out to Gabon.
The Uganda Cranes open their AFCON campaign against Ghana Black Stars on 17th January 2017 at Port Gentil Stadium.
Egypt and Mali are the other teams in Group D.
