Tunisia coach Henryk Kasperczak announced a 23-man squad for the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) set to take place between 14th January and 5th February 2017 in Gabon.
The Carthage Eagles were drawn in Group B alongside Algeria, Senegal and Zimbabwe. They will kick off their campaign against Senegal on January 15 at the the Stade de Franceville.
The Polish coach, who had led the Tunisians to a runners-up finish in the 1996 AFCON, has named Valencia’s Aymen Abdennour and Sunderland’s Wahbi Khazri in his squad. The final list also included Ali Maaloul, who plays for Cairo giants Al Ahly.
Meanwhile, Anderlecht striker Hamdi Harbaoui was left out of the final squad for the tournament.
On Wednesday, Tunisia claimed a 2-0 win in a preparatory game against Uganda.
The Carthage Eagles will next face Egypt on January 8 in the final warm-up game ahead of the tournament.
