Uganda Cranes coach Mulitin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic has labeled the draw for the 2019 Africa Nations Cup qualifiers as very fair but warned that no team can be taken for granted.

The Cranes, runners up in 1978 are drawn in Group L with neighbours Tanzania, Cape Verde and Lesotho with the table toppers making it to Cameroon.

Micho, who became the first coach to guide Cranes to AFCON finals since 1978 with a successful 2017 campaign, says the draw is proof of good job in recent years.

“Draw could be counted as very fair for Uganda and proof that we did good job in recent years to be able to have favourable draw,” he told Kawowo Sports.

However, no team can be taken for granted but with absolute respect and professional approach on the field garnished with perfect planning off the field, with friendlies ahead of qualifiers and all routines we have used to make team competitive, Uganda can qualify for Cameroon 2019.

The Serbian tactician who has had stints in Rwanda, Tanzania, South Africa, Sudan and Ethiopia among others adds that football wise, the group is playable insisting knowledge of opponent in Tanzania and down spiral of Cape Verde key.

It is football wise playable having in mind that Cape Verde Islands in downside of their team, that our brothers Tanzanians we know well and having in mind that Comoros beat Lesotho in World cup qualifiers we have much easier teams to play.

In his first year as president, FUFA boss Moses Magogo targeted the edition in Cameroon as the right time for Uganda to qualify for AFCON and Micho believes they have built team for the Project.

For 2 years we have built PROJECT Cameroon 2019 through bulk of players we have in our team that will under good strategy have great chance to qualify

Previously, Uganda failed to qualify from a group that had Lesotho in the 2008 edition and have also failed to reach the Promised Land when paired with countries from CECAFA.
