KCCA 2-0 BUL

KCCA FC maintained their home record with a commanding 2-0 win over Jinja side BUL FC in their first match of the second round.
Geoffrey Sserunkuuma nodded home the KCCA’s first goal of the second round with a header off Muzamir Mutyaba’s free kick to start what turned out to be a long evening for Frank Anyau’s troops.
The home side remained in control throughout the first half and ably dealt with any sort of threat attempted by the visitors.
Goalkeeper Charles Lukwago, making his debut for the league defending champions, had to be at his best to deny David Bagoole while Isaac Kirabila cleared off the line from a powerful Asaman Alishe header.
The away side started the second half with purpose and Yuda Mugalu and Bagoole both came close but Lukwago was not letting anything to cross the white line behind him.
BUL’s search for an equaliser was then halted when goalkeeper Brian Bwete saw a straight red card for handling the ball outside the box to deny Paul Mucereezi a clear goal scoring opportunity.
From the resultant free kick, Mutyaba superbly found the back of the net to double the hosts’ lead. He beat the wall set by substitute keeper Eric Dhaira for KCCA’s second of the day.
Second half substitutes Ivan Ntege and Derrick Nsibambi came close to extending the home side’s lead but but Dhaira kept them at bay.
The win leaves Mike Mutebi’s charges top of the table as they look to defend the title. KCCA have now completed the double over BUL having won the first round tie 3-0.
With second placed Villa dropping two points at the Champions Stadium in Matugga, the win leaves KCCA 3 points clear at the top.
KCCA will now focus on their CAF Champions League tie with Angolan side D’Agusto with the first leg set for Friday at the Philip Omondi Stadium.
