Mongers 10-27 Pirates

In what will remain as one of the worst displays at the once intimidating dry and barren ‘House of Pain’, Entebbe Mongers lost 27-10 to the visiting Pirates in the Rugby Premiership on Saturday.
Missing their players, Adrian Wasswa and Herbert Kato as well as John Wandicho and Richard Bbira, the Entebbe Mongers had a slow start to the game punctuated by awful ball handling and suspect positioning.
Timothy Kisge touched down as early as the 14th minute to give the visiting team the lead as Conrad Wanyama made no mistake with the conversion.
Paul Angana reduced the deficit with a well converted penalty three minutes later.
Conrad Wanyama and Isaac Massa piled misery to Mongers with a penalty and a try in the 29th and 36th minutes respectively as the half time ended 15-03.
In the second half, Mongers introduced Ronald Adigas to add numbers in the lock department.
This did not help with a red card shown to Paul Ssekitto for unsporting play as it meant the Mongers were to play the final 30 minutes with 14 men.
Ivan Chadri and Muhammad Haruna scored two tries in the second half to give Pirates a 27-10 full time score against Mongers who got a consolation try through Joseph Tamale that was converted by Papi Joel.
Mongers skipper on the day, Elijah Segawa attributed the loss to uncoordinated play throughout the game.
“We were slow on tackles and poor at ball handling. Going forward, we shall re-organize the house as soon as possible for the up-coming games,” Segawa noted after the match.
His counter part at Pirates, Marvin Odongo lauded his teammates for the commendable display given the challenge of the dry patched playing surface.
“We played on a very dry ground but we put our act together for a great performance,” Odongo noted.
Pirates’ Desire Ayella was voted man of the match.
