Kirinya-Jinja SSS boss Abbey Bogere hopes his side can build on their first win of the season for the remainder of the term as they continue to fight relegation.

The league debutants endured a challenging start to the campaign, with victory eluding them but the side was able to secure their first win on Sunday.

Inspired by their new acquisition George Ssenkaaba, the side comfortably beat their neighbors Sadolin Paints 2-0 thanks to a brace from Ssenkaaba.

Speaking to Kawowo sports after the game, Bogere who helped Kirinya earn promotion to top flight said: “I’m very happy. The entire town [referring to Jinja] has been waiting for this win. We have come close to winning several times; now that we have it, I’m extremely happy.

“The players as always worked hard and were patient.

“We will not get carried away though! It’s our first win; hopefully we can build on it. We have a tough game coming up against Onduparaka, a game we can’t afford to lose. We are going to focus on that now.”

Kirinya-Jinja SSS remain stuck at the bottom three, but victory moved them a place to 14th.
