At a time the local Pool governing body is embroiled in leadership crisis following paused elections a fortnight ago, the fraternity will pose politics and storm Masaka for the season opener.
The tournament, arguably the biggest in the region has been organized by CKI Pharmacy together with CLUB Klein management.
Atleast Ug.Shs 10M has been staked in cash prizes for both men and women.
Sula Matovu who is the Pool Association of Uganda reigning Most Valuable Players (won the Nile Special National Pool Open and season ending Christmas Open tourneys) has already confirmed his participation in the Championship.
Matovu will have to face other good players and top seeds like Alfred Gumikiriza, Fahad Sewankambo, Fred ‘Bonde’ Namanya and many others in any of the championship’s stages.
New CKI Signings Hazard Lukomwa and 2-time Masaka Open Champion Joram Nabasa are expected to be threats for the Top Players.
“Am looking at developing talents in our Region and changing lives of players of the sport we love,” said Bobby Tamale, the CKI Director.
The championship is expected to attract 128 Men and 32 Ladies starting this Friday and ending on Saturday.
In Ladies Category Victoria ‘Vicky’ Namuyanja is the player to beat but will have to over come a chain of stars like Ritah Nimusima, Angella Busingye, Zaimat Nabafu and many others.
Home darling, Rose Namugerwa will also fight for home respect.
The winner in men category will walk away with 3 millions cash and a trophy.
