FUFA Big League Saturday results:

Elgon Group – Maroons 2-0 Moroto United, Kira United 3-0 Artland-Kamuli Park

Rwenzori Group – Mbarara City 2-1 Sun City, Boma Young 1-1 Water, Kataka 0-0 Entebbe (Match Abandoned after Kataka was awarded late penalty kick)

A goal in each half from teenager Pius Obuya and the usual suspect Patrick Kaddu ensured Maroons an easy 2-0 home victory against visiting side Moroto United at the Uganda Prisons stadium in Luzira on Saturday.

Obuya opened the scoring with a 23rd minute goal before Kaddu wrapped up the business with a customary finish after 54 minutes, his 13th goal of the campaign.

Maroons thus remains the only unbeaten side in the entire FUFA Big league setting that has Rwenzori and Elgon group with 25 clubs combined.

This was the 11th victory of the season in 16 matches for the Asaph Mwabaze led charges as they work towards a steady progress for promotion back to the Uganda Premier league.

Maroons has now opened an 11-point lead in the Elgon group ahead of second placed Ndejje University with a game in hand.

It was a rather poor week for debuting side Moroto United, who also lost 4-1 to Kira United a few days ago.

In the other Big league game played on the same day (Rwenzori group), Mbarara City were 2-1 winners against Kasese side, Sun City at the Kakyeeka Stadium in Mbarara.

South Sudanese towering center forward, Makweth Awol scored a brace to take his personal tally to 9 goals.

At the Kira town council play ground, Churchhill Kanyana, Peter Musisi and Ali Kisekka scored as the home side, Kira United overcame visiting Artland Kamuli Park.

In Hoima, Boma Young managed a one all home draw with visiting Water Football Club during a game held at Boma Play ground.

Collino Sadiq equalized from 12 yards following a kick from the penalty mark to cancel the visitors’ lead against the run of play.

The Kataka versus Entebbe was abandoned with about 10 minutes to play when Entebbe walked off in protested following a penalty awarded to the home team at the Nabini play ground.

Only three clubs shall be promoted to the Azam Uganda Premier league with two sides directly qualifying from their respective groups as the other is determined via a promotional play off.

The Big league will resume on Monday with one game in Entebbe when Masavu hosts Sun City at the lake side Katabi Gomobolola play ground.
