Uganda Cranes midfielder Aucho Khalid is set to join Serbian side, Red Star Belgrade Football Club.

This is after all the necessary paper work which commenced a few weeks ago after the AFCON tournament in Gabon, is nearing completion.

According to his Ugandan based representative, Geofrey Solo Kayemba, the player is expected to fly to Serbia as soon as the visa has been secured in the coming days to complete the medicals.

The visa is being processed from South Africa where the player has been plying his trade with Baroka F.C.

Even though the official Serbia transfer deadline eclipsed last Friday, there is an assured guarantee that his documentations will be considered because the on-line process was started earlier.

The 23 year old blocking left footed midfielder was released by ABSA Premiership new comers, Baroka alongside the Uganda Cranes’ skipper Geofrey Massa.

Last July, Aucho was invited for trials in Scotland with Aberdeen but the deal fell through after the foreign quota was filled before the transfer deadline day.

Aucho’s strong points:

He is an energetic and tall midfielder, left footed with sublime ball skills.

He is best at the diagonal long balls to the wings and a great passer of the ball.

He is blessed with exceptional positional sense as he orchestrates the central midfield department.

Aucho was one of the star players for Uganda Cranes at the 31st Africa Cup of Nations as the country returned to the biggest continental football fiesta, for the first time in 39 years.

He missed the first game against Ghana after accumulated cautions from the grueling qualifiers but he returned with outstanding performances against 7 time Africa champions Egypt and perennial African representatives, Mali.

Red Star Belgrade recently signed 19 year old Brazilian defender Mateus Viveiros Andrade in the January window.

They released David Babunski on mutual consent.
