Rwandan side Rayon Sports defeated South Sudan outfit El Wau Salam 2-0 on Sunday evening to advance to the next stage of the CAF Confederation Cup.

The home side carried a comfortable 4-0 lead from the first game and were odds-on favourites to win and advance.

Pierrot Kwizera and striker Mousa Camara delivered the two goals on the day as ten-man Rayon Sports progressed to the next stage with a commanding 6-0 aggregate score.

With a four-goal cushion, Rayon head coach Djuma Masudi warned his charges to distance themselves from complacency and they responded to his plea.

In the 26th minute, Kwizera found the back of the net with a well taken free kick to send the home crowd into frenzy.

The second came from Malian striker Camara who headed home with nine minutes left on the clock.

Rayon Sports imposed themselves on their Sudamese opponents and could have had more goals had Camara been on top of his game.

Defender Ange Mutsizi saw a straight red card for hitting Gasper Anyom in the face.

Not even the numerical advantage could push the Sudanese side and Camara’s goal in the 81st minute put the game to bed for the Rwandans.

The final whistle sent the home side and their fans into celebrations while their counterparts, beaten on the pitch in two legs, switched their minds to the long bus journey back home.

Rayon Sports will now face Mali side Onze Creatures in the first qualification round first leg on the weekend of March 10-12 and then host the return leg the following weekend.
