Absa Premiership side Orlando Pirates on Monday morning announced the appointment of Kjell Jonevret as the new club coach.

The 54-year-old Swede takes over the mantle of the Soweto based outfit on a three-year-deal.

He replaces caretaker coach Augusto Palacios, who has been in-charge since Mursin Ertugral quit November 2016.

Palacios was sacked followed the humiliating 6-1 loss to the reigning league champions, Mamelodi Sundowns a couple of days ago.

Mamelodi Sundowns legend Harold Logendi is his new assistant because Bradly Carnell will be leaving for Europe.

The former Djurgardens IF tactician has revealed that he has his own philosophy which he will preach at the Sea Robbers’ club.

I am going to do what I normally do. I will continue with my philosophy. I have seen Pirates in the last couple of games

Jonervert enters the frey immediately and will help the side prepare for the Polokwane City tie scheduled for Saturday.

Should the work permit procedure materialize well on time, he should be able to sit on the technical bench.

David Isabirye is a senior staff writer for Kawowo Sports where he covers most of the major events.
