Two teenage Liberian athletes have been cleared by the Liberia Athletics Federation (LAF) for the 2017 Kampala World Cross Country Championships slated for March 26 at Kololo Independence Grounds.

Lucy Massaquoi, 18, and Andrew S. Kpehe, 17, will join a host of over 800 athletes in a bid to make history in Uganda’s capital.

The duo have already hit the gym and commenced road work after getting formally accepted by the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) thanks to their show at the 2017 National Open Club Championship held in the Fendell Community on the outskirts of Monrovia.

Massaquoi is the 2011 Liberian female marathon winner and Kpehe is the current 1,500 and 5,000 male champion. Both will participate in the U-20 mixed race.
