Innocent Simiyu

Kenya Sevens head coach Innocent “Namcos” Simiyu has strongly advised Kenya Rugby Union to find an immediate replacement for strength and conditioning coach Briton Ian Gibbons who resigned.

“Strength and Conditioning coach will be paramount going forward while the rest later. Perhaps I will get an assistant for next season,” Simiyu told ur7s.com.

South African Will Webster – based in Kenya has been a boost to the country’s Sevens outfit but Gibbons’ resignation after just three months is a fresh dent.

Unverified sources revealed Gibbons had been at loggerheads with some directors at KRU over, among other things, the team’s training programmes according to ur7s.com.

And now Kenya Rugby Union (KRU) has been left with a load to clear.

Simiyu will name his squad for the next legs of the World Series in Las Vegas and Vancouver due March 3-5 and March 11-12 respectively on Thursday.
