Uganda Cranes striker Edrisa Lubega was on Thursday officially unveiled by his new Austria-based club, Floridsdorfer Athletiksport.
Lubega was loaned to Floridsdorfer Athletiksport-Club in Austria from Uganda Premier League club, Proline for a period of 6 months
There is a provision for extending his stay at the club in case he impresses the technical team.
Lubega has had a fast rise up the ladder since featuring in the Buganda Masaza Cup tournament in 2015 for Singo.
He was then signed the following season by Proline and played in the Big League (second tier) helping the club get promoted to the Uganda Premier League in the 2015/16 season and he topped the goal scoring chart with 22 goals.
He has been in the Proline F.C. squad in the Uganda Premier League and part of the Uganda Cranes set up structure having played at CHAN 2016 in Rwanda.
He also played a couple of matches for the Uganda U-23 side in the Olympic qualifiers and some friendly matches with the senior team.
The club official website quotes Dominik Glawogger who credited him for the speed and physical robustness.
Edrisa Lubega struck me two years ago. Because of his enormous speed and physical robustness he is, the long-sought middle-striker. I would like to thank our Team-manger Lukas Fischer who has put great energy into this transfer since mid-December. We are very glad that he is eligible for the game right now.
Since former Uganda Cranes captain Ibrahim Sekajja left Red Bulls Salzburg in 2007, no other Ugandan has played in Austria.
Lubega is one player tipped to shine because of his discipline and work ethic on and off the playing field.
He is a raw product with loads of calories to burn for his direct approach of play as he faces the opposition.
The former Dynamic High School player joins a list of few Ugandans playing in Europe.
