- Zico was in charge of Kenya in the frustating draw at Namboole against Uganda in 2011

Former Harambee Stars coach Zedekiah ‘Zico’ Otieno has bounced back at Gor Mahia as assistant to Brazilian Ze Maria.
Zico as famously referred to in Kenya makes a return to the club he was part of until January 2012.
Club General Secretary Ambrose Rachier confirmed the appointment insisting the former Posta Rangers coach has it all to steer the club to greater heights.
“We have appointed Zedekiah Otieno as our assistant coach, because we were looking for someone with Kenyan Premier League (KPL) experience and Zico was suitable for the position,” Rachier is quoted on Soka.ke.
“It is in our best interest that we win the title in the coming season, and for us to meet that goal we opted to have the best technical bench. We have good players as well and Zico is an experienced coach who can work with our current head coach (Ze Maria) and the other members of the technical bench to give the desired outcome.
Zico is a highly rated tactician not only in Kenya but the CECAFA region as well.
The knowledgeable tactician was the man in charge of Harambee Stars in 2011 when the team frustrated Uganda Cranes at Namboole in a goalless draw that denied the team chance to play at AFCON 2012.
