FUFA Big League | Tuesday Results

  • Baza Holdings 0-1 Nyamityobora
  • Kireka United 0-0 Synergy
  • Hope Doves 2-0 Entebbe
  • Artland Kamuli 0-0 Sporting United

Elvis Zlatan Kiberu scored the lone goal as Nyamityobora Football Club beat Baza Holdings in the FUFA Big League on Thursday.

The forward, arguably the overall best performer on the day, was well stationed to slot home Yusuf Abato’s telling delivery for his first goal of the campaign since joining the Mbarara side in the January transfer window.

Kiberu was one of the recruitment for Nyamityobora in the January window alongside Charles Ssebutinde (coach Matia Lule’s son), Isma Kawawulo, Martin Bugembe and the immensely intelligent midfielder Yunus Kaddu.

He confessed to Kawowo Sports that the goal on Thursday is just a tip of the solid iceberg as he continues to work hard for the team. He also dedicated the strike to the team members.

Scoring the lone strike in the match motivates me to work even harder.

I dedicate the goal to all my teammates as work to ensure we are promoted to the Uganda Premier League.

Maximum points for Charles Ayiekho Lukula’s side ensured they rise to 29 points, eight short of Rwenzori Group leaders, Masavu.

Masavu had on Tuesday comprehensively defeated visiting Mbarara City 4-1 at Entebbe with Ddumba Sadala scoring a brace to compliment Onesmas Andama and Charles Odeke’s rare goal.

In some of the other games played on Thursday, Kireka United held Synergy to a goalless draw at the Namboole outside playground.

Meanwhile Hopes Doves dumped Entebbe 2-0 at the Mutesa II Stadium, Wankulukuku.

The Big League will resume with a series of game on Saturday and Sunday.

Hope Doves has no resting time as they embarked on the road trip to Kasese where they will face Sun City at the barren Nyakasanga playground.

Kireka United will once again be at home when they entertain Hoima’s Airtel Kitara as Masavu travels away to Mbarara City.

Three clubs shall be promoted to the Uganda Premier League by the end of the season in May.
