Police made it five consecutive wins in all competitions with a 2-1 victory over Soana in the Uganda Premier League on Friday at Kavumba Recreational Ground.

The Cops, fresh from thrashing The Saints 4-1 in the Uganda Cup enjoyed their return to their former home ground as they controlled proceedings for much of the game.

They took the lead through Ben Ochen’s penalty in the 28th minute after Yasin Mugume -who was making his first start since joining the club on loan from KCCA- got fouled by Siraje Turyamureba.

Soana’s Francis Olaki drew the sides level five minutes to recess to end the first half all square, but the visitors were quick to restore the lead soon after the break through Ramhat Ssenfuka.

The 2005 league champions continue their revival under Abdallah Mubiru who was appointed head coach last year in December.

Under their new coach, Police have secured as many wins as they managed the entirety of the first round [3]. They move a place above to ninth with 23 points dislodging The Saints.

Soana, meanwhile are still hunting for their first win since that 3-0 victory over Bul in December.

Defeat leaves George Lutalo’s charges fifth, but only two points off Police.
