- Sundowns (RSA) Vs KCCA (Uganda) – Lucas Moripe stadium

African champions Mamelodi Sundowns may be without four key players including Denis Onyango and Khama Billiat when they host Uganda’s KCCA in the CAF Champions League.
The ‘Brazilians’ host the Ugandan representatives at the Lucas Moripe stadium on Saturday, March 11 in the first leg of the pre-group round with a return leg expected in a week’s time.
Onyango was hauled off after 22 minutes in the 2-0 win over Bidvest Wits over the weekend while Biliat missed the game together with Anthony Laffor and Anele Ngconcgca.
“Denis is out. He is on crutches,” said Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane as quoted by Kickoff.
“Khama [Billiat] is out. [Anthony] Laffor is out. Anele is out. You won’t see them in four to five games,” he added.
Before the game against Wits, Mosimane said they can’t use the excuse of missing their key players but admitted they needed all their players given the tight schedule.
It would be a blow if we were to miss all three players at the same time, especially that that our schedule is this tight, but we can never use that as an excuse. As long as we have eleven players on the field and seven substitutes, we have to fight on.
Sundowns return to action on Tuesday with a home PSL tie against Chippa United and then travel to Cape Town on March 3 before hosting Mike Mutebi’s side.
Despite playing four games less than table topping SuperSport United, the CAF Super Cup winners are just three points adrift with 32 points.
