It is officially back!
Basketball fans will have a chance to dribble, pass, defend, try the three pointers, dunk and laugh heartily as they play as well as cheer about their favourite stars as the ever enticing Friday Night Lights (FNL) basketball that returns for the 7th year running.
This pre-season fun tourney was engineered in 2011 with the intention of preparing players and fans ahead of the fresh new season.
The 2017 edition was officially launched at Diner’s Lounge in Bukoto in Kampala on Wednesday evening.

FNL managing director Tom Ochamuringa graced the launch, flanked by new partners on board.
Ochamuringa promised a more fun filled tourney with fans entrusted with more authority and engagement.
The FNL 7th season is here. There are 10 teams after fans voted with the teams.
We are excited to announce new partners on board as we strive to make the tournament better and better. This year’s edition starts on Friday, 10th March 2017 at YMCA in Kampala.
Teams:
Fans decided the captains of the 10 teams ready to compete this year following an electronic voting process.

The teams are Otim Jonah (O’team), Paul Odong (McGyver), Flavia Oketcho (Flirsh), Wazee, Sudi Ulanga (Sudi), Fahmy Ssebatindira (Fahmy), Judith Nansobya (Ayo), Norman Blick (Blick), Jimmy Enabu (Enabu) and Michael Makiadi (Makiadi).
Last season, there were eight teams.
Blick, skipper of the team Norman Blick vowed to entertain and post home the results;
This is a fun filled tournament. We shall entertain and as well strive to win. We call upon our fans to come in big numbers.
Format of play:
The teams will be distributed into two groups. They will play a round robin basis before the quarter finals will come knocking.
Prizes:
Unlike the previous editions, this time round, fans have been engaged and empowered to determine the winners.
Winning team on the evening will smile home with Ug.shs 300,000. Fans have a chance to make activations, participate to win in fun games and they target the hefty gift hampers to return home with.
Overall winning team shall get Ug.shs 3M by the close of business on 7th May 2017.
Teams composition:
Each of the participating teams is composed of 3 NBL players, 2 ladies, 3 fans, 2 D-League and 1 lower division player.
At any one time on court, there must be 1 lady, 1 fan, 2 Div and preferably two top division players depending on the team set up.
Each game runs for 30 minutes (15 minutes each half).
This year’s FNL will run until 7th April 2017.
