The 2017 Entebbe Ladies Golf open has been officially launched on Thursday morning at Brand House, Bugolobi in Kampala.

Uganda Ladies Golf Union president, Maximillian Byenkya, Entebbe Lady captain Jovia Tugume, Allan Mafabi and Julian Sentamu graced the brief launch.

Sentamu announced a Shs.40M sponsorship by Castle Lite, intended to help in the entire organization of the two day’s tournament.

We are committed towards the development of golf in the country especially among the feminine gender.

This particular sponsorship is intended to help in the logistical assistance to ensure the smooth running of the tournament.

A strong field of over 250 golfers is expected to grace the tournament with Tanzanian top golfer Iddi Madina along the confirmed foreign participants in the event set to tee off at the par 71 Entebbe Golf Course.

Byenkya appreciated the sponsors and promised a great tourney.

Sponsors ensure tournaments get great organization and the due publicity.

We are so grateful of the support from the sponsors. We therefore expect a great tournament at Entebbe.

Host club lady captain, Jovia Tugume vowed to give all the guests a special reception at East Africa’s oldest golfing facility.

All the preparations to have a successful tournament have been undertaken and we promise a great event over the two days.

The entire course and the greens is in the best shape ever after the rains throughout the week.

We expect a large number of golfers across the country.

The tournament officially tees off on Friday morning with the subsidiary category expected to join on Saturday.

Home bred golfer Irene Nakalembe is the defending champion.

She will definitely get a challenge from Jensen, Vicky Elias, Eva Magala, Samali Naikomba, Minister Monica Ntege, the ever green Gloria Mbaguta and youngsters led by Resty Nalutaaya and Melon Kyomugisha among others.
