Carlos Queiroz

Iran coach Carlos Queiroz could end up South Africa tactician following the departure of former, Shakes Mashaba.

The former Manchester United assistant coach in the Ferguson era could make the switch as soon as possible.

SowetanLive reported; South African Football Association (SAFA) technical committee had trimmed the candidate list down to two men – Queiroz and Renard.

SAFA will announce a new head coach in a few days time.

At Old Trafford, he began his work at the start of the 2002–03 season, working alongside Alex Ferguson, who had gone without an assistant manager since the departure of Steve McClaren in the middle of 2001.

Queiroz has been in charge of Iran since 2011. He has qualified three national teams to the World Cup, those being South Africa in 2002, Portugal in 2010, and Iran in 2014.
