The second edition of the Gorillas in the mist rally has turned out to be a nightmare for some crews.
Ten crews were forced into early retirements on day one
Musa Kabega and Rogers Sirwomu ended their sublime performance with a roll in stage three (kitagata). They were running in third place before they dropped out.

Hassan Alwi had his title contention yet again dashed as he bowed out with a broken drive shaft in the eighth stage. Alwi, navigated by Enoch Olinga were lying in second place with just one stage to end the day.
Alwi remains pointless after the second round of the NRC.
2015 NRC champion Arthur Blick Jnr also had mechanical problems ending his rally.
Other casualties of the event include, Andy Musoke, Sadat Negomba, Eddie Mukiibi, Musa Kizito, Yasin Mukasa, Tim Gakwaya, Umar Dauda.
Meanwhile, Duncan Mubiru topped day one followed by Omar Mayanja and Ronald Sebuguzi in third.
