Bright Stars coach Fred Kajoba made no excuses for his side’s 3-0 loss to Sadolin Paints on Saturday at the Mandela National Stadium, Nambole.
Nasser Swafi Bassan notched a brace in the first half and Jamali Sijali scored the third goal late in the game to comfortably hand the Jinja side their first three points in 2017 while subjecting the Kawempe side to their 4th defeat of the campaign.
Speaking to Kawowo Sports after the game, Kajoba admitted that his team was not up to the task against the side they beat in the first round.
“It was one of those days. Everyone was off and Sadolin were very sharp. Congratulations to them because they played very well. We didn’t play to our best and we had limited ideas on how to stop them. The right team won.”
The loss ended Bright Stars’ unbeaten run of six games in the league. It was their first defeat since losing 5-3 to SC Villa back in November last year.
The side travels to the West Nile region for a meet with league debutants Onduparaka on Tuesday, and Kajoba has advised his players to quickly forget about the loss and focus on Tuesday’s game.
“We must put this behind us as quickly as possible and focus on the next game against Onduparaka. Arua is a tough place to go to so we need focus minds. We cannot let this loss linger in our minds.”
The result left Bright Stars seventh in the league with 25 points.
