Following a stunning 2-0 loss to Onduparaka seven days ago, Police FC return to league action with a tough trip to Matugga where they face an equally wounded The Saints.

The two sides are still battling relegation and the game provides a good chance for either to pick maximum points off another.

Visiting Coach, Abdallah Mubiru is optimistic his side will put up a good fight but is wary of the threat posed by not only the opponent but the state of the Matugga pitch.

“They will be eager to pick points off us after losing their previous two games,” said Mubiru. “And the state of the Matugga pitch isn’t friendly to nature of the football we play but we have the capacity to pick maximum points,” he added.

For Moses Basena, The Saints coach, the game comes at a time when his side’s confidence is low but an urge to step up will be instrumental.

“The previous losses are off our mind. Now all the focus is on the next game and am confident the boys will rise up to the occasion.”

Cops will miss the services of midfielders Ben Ocen and Rauben Kimera through injury but Ibrahim Kibumba and Martin Mpuuga are fit to play the game.

Mubiru is expected to offer debut to youngster Paul Willa at right back while Brian Ochwo may also feature against his previous employers.

The hosts, who lost to KCCA 1-0 on Friday at the same venue, will look to Julius Malingumu for inspiration as well ex-Ugandan international midfielder Noah ‘Babadi’ Kasule.

With Express and Soana not in action, a win for the 2005 league champions may see them move to 6th on the log if other results go their way while Saints also have a chance to go 8th.
