2017 President’s Cup: St Michel 2-0 Cote D’Or

St Michel defeated arch-rivals, Cote D’Or 2-0 in the traditional curtain raiser ahead of the Seychelles football season.

Malagasy-import Jocelyn Fenosoa notched a brace in the game played at the Stad Linite in Roche Caiman.

Reigning league winners, Cote D’Or were battling the cup champions, St Michel ahead of the new season kick off.

The two sides swapped coaches in the transfer window.

Former national team coach Andrew Jean-Louis moved to the reigning league champions and Malagasy-born Ahmed Abdou, also the coach of the year, joined St Michel.

Louis as quoted by CAFonline hopes the performance will be a spring board for their great performances in the season to come;

We did not play to a high level in the first period though we still were the better team.

We still got the goals we deserved in the second half against an opponent that rarely troubled us in a comfortable victory.

We hope this good start will be a springboard for us in the other competitions this season

Abdou, on the other hand saluted his charges;

“We played a decent match but have to accept the result as we lacked quality in certain areas and would like to reinforce before our next match and we still have work to do before we launch our league campaign,” said Abdou.

St Michel won their 15th President’s cup title.
