Ivan Bukenya’s side East Bengal succumbed to a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Churchill Brothers FC in the I – League on Tuesday.

The Churchill Brothers frustrated the  table toppers, to earn their third win on the spin under new coach Derrick Pereira.

Anthony Wolfe (7′) and Ansumana Kromah (34′) netted in the first half to ensure Chris Payne’s (67′) strike made no difference.

Bukenya was beaten by Wolfe for pace to find Kromah who left Anwar who doubled the scores after thirty minutes for the Churchill Brothers.

He was later replaced at half time by Arnab Mondal.

East Bengal remained top with 27 points from 13 matches. Churchill Brothers FC Goa also got stuck at the sixth spot with 15 points despite the win.
