Swaibu Lubega struck in the 28th minute as Artland Katale Football Club overcame Kyambogo 1-0 in the Elgon Group match played on Women’s day in Kamuli district.

This was one of the two games played in the second highest tier football league in the country on International Women’s Day.

Artland Katale now ascends to 5th in the group standings having collected 22 points from 16 games.

Club PRO, Wilson Kantu has the hope that his club could qualify for the playoff just in case they maintain the winning form and run.

“It is good that we are now winning. I hope we can make it to the play-offs just in case the winning form is maintained in the remaining games,” Kantu noted.

Artland Katale will play Ndejje University in Luwero in the next fixture on Thursday, 16th March 2017.

The other game played on Wednesday witnessed debutants Moroto United win 4-3 against visiting Busia Fisheries in Moroto District.

A day earlier, Kataka had defeated visiting Sun City 2-0 in Mbale. Aziz Mafuko and Amanya scored the goals for Kataka.

In the other matches, Kira United were 3-1 winners over Sporting United at the Kira Town Council playground.

Artland Katale registered a slim 1-0 result against Kyambogo in Kamuli.

The FUFA Big League returns on Thursday with five games.

The mother of all battles will see Ndejje University host Maroons in a top of the Elgon Group affair.

Elsewhere, Synergy will play Water at the Masaka Recreational Stadium, Simba entertains Bright Light from Lira at the Mashariki High school playground off Entebbe road and fast improving Baza Holdings host Kasese based Sun City at the Kawempe Muslim S.S playground.

Three clubs shall be promoted to the Uganda Premier League.
